What! No coverage?

I don’t see any coverage of the NASA derailment. Saw an article in the newspaper, but, it didn’t say whose line it was on. Anyone have more to this story?

Story I read said it happened on the Meridian & Bigbee, part of the Genesee & Wyoming family.I wonder why NASA would use a shortline ?

Jim, check back a couple of days. I’ve found two threads in here on the derailment, and the Newswire (if you can get it) also had coverage.

All I see in this aerial view are the two UP pool locomotives and a crew car on the ground. The restv of the train behind it looks to be upright and on the rails, yes?

Its here - just gotta go to pg 2 of the posts - or do a search on the word NASA

…Rather sure I have seen another news photo that shows one of the NASA equipment cars on it’s side…It’s back in the train farther.

That photo doesn’t show trhe entire train. There is one of the rocket boosters in the swamp. It is the fourth one back. Check the other thread on this derailment. I put links to the video there.

Hey guys,

I looked on CNN.com Fri or Sat . They had an areial video of it,about 2-3 min worth…Danny

What’s up with the yellow rings around the first box car?

Anyway, updated news: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18486371

Looks to me like they’re clearance gauges, to make sure nothing’s going to hit the booster containers.

Buffer car with tell tales. (the reverse of what you normally see) …better to check them getting hit instead of the real thing the next car back/ SAPOHS stuff for when they approach an obstruction…good eye Brian.

I take it, that they have only a few places on the line that are questionable. You’d have to be moving slowly, in order to stop in one car length, wouldn’t you?

They’re probably pretty effective at warding off the softer obstructions more commonly found along the line, such as downed tree branches, etc. That way they won’t puncture the booster containers.

…No one has commented on what I noted earlier that this train had derailed earlier on this trip…Wonder if it might have done so again on this trestle and collapsed it when it possibly got off to one side, etc…

blhanel, Murphy siding, mudchicken,

Thanks for the answers.
