What other RRs rolling stock was hauled by the Pennylvania??

Well… As my website says, it wasn’t really my track plan to begin with. All I did was change a few sidings. We should both be thanking Lou Sassi!

Glad to have converted you. Welcome to the ranks of SPFs (I’ll let someone else explain that acronym for you)! Long live the Standard Railroad of the World.

Yes I also read that it was a MR track plan. Is the origanal still on this website? I will definetly enjoy my PRR N scale and my New England one!!

The original can be found in the Second Edition of Kalmbach’s Small Railroads You Can Build. It’s also in MR, but I don’t remember which issues. I have my modified trackplan on my website, but because of copyright issues, decided not to post the MR version.

I also suggest you consider Kalmbach’s book on Dave Frary’s HO Pennsy Middle Division… great ideas in spite of the scale. Kalmbach makes a book called Heart of the Pennsylvania Railroad which you might find helpful.

Also, check out the books online through http://www.strasburgrailroadstore.com/category_s/130.htm. I have 5 of the Pennsy Diesel Years books, 3 of the Pennsy Steam Years, and one of the Pennsy Electric Years books, along with dozens of others. Every year during my annual pilgrimage to Strasburg, PA and the Railroad Museum of PA (I’m a member of the Friends of the RR Museum of PA) which maintains the PRR steam collection, I buy books for research. There’s also a series called PRR Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment you should consider.

Books are expensive and cypher off some of the modeling budget, but are really invaluable when it comes to recreating the right atmosphere and consists.

Huge Dittos on Dave Frary’s HO Pennsy Middle Division book. I was fortunate to pick it up for a song on eBay a few months ago while looking for two of the 1993 Model Railroaders to complete that series I had in my MRR archives all along.

Alternate suggestion: Bookmark on eBay for Model Railroader 1993 under the Moder RR, Trains category. The other articles in those 1993 issues really complement Dave Frary’s series, and you’ll probably end up spending the same amount as for just the Pennsy special issue which is much harder to find.

Thank you to everyone. For all the links. I will bookmark this post so I can come back to it when ready to do some extensive research. Tim
