i model in ho and g but i do have nice collection of n scale ho in the winter g in the summer jmozz
7/8th scale 1:13.7, so that my 45mm track represents 2ft gauge. This is a photo of my Plymouth cane loco, battery powered
Hey guys,
Still have all my HO stuff but it is all boxed up and packed away. Plan on building a display case for some pieces but that would be it. So I guess the answer to the question is…no for now. Later eh…Brian.
I get to model anything from Z scale to Large Scale. Depends what the customer would like.[:)][:)]
Now for all those who curse about N scale being that small
What you see here are Z scale conifers, they are 3" tall. The trunks are wood, the branches are fern i.e. they’re built using the Jack Work method.
Oh yeah, the trunks start out as 1/8" wood doweling, the mounting peg is turned on them in a lathe, they get shaped on a belt sander and then I drill all the holes with a #70 drill (0.028"). Next the bark texture is added, the trunks get stained and then the branches get inserted one by one.
They can be either nicely groomed (special request) for gardens or they are irregularly shaped like the variety in the bush. And no two are ever the same.
Any questions why I like to spend some time on the Net shooting the breeze? Nah, I didn’t think so. [;)][:)][:)]
BTW the largest conifers we produce are 22-24" tall.
So who buys this stuff?
Diorama builders, architectural modelbuilders, model railroaders, gamers and… and… and.
And I get to do that and a whole bunch of other model railroad things every day, just don’t ask how my garden railway is coming.[;)][:(][:)]
I’m an old N guy, but it’s too small now. Shame really because it’s all Kato/Atlas/Micro-trains gear and it is really superb. I have started the process of sale/trade to concentrate on G. I can actually see that stuff!
Cheers,
Kim

Yep!
That’s where one of my quips comes from: G scale…perfect stuff; even half-blind people can be rivet counters![:D][:D][:D]
Hi HJ,
You’re right there. I forgot to mention that I can even put the big stuff on the track without saying something like, “will you get where you’re !!**??@ put”. Well something like that!
Cheers,
Kim

I have a real fascination with the small tramway style railways and 7/8 scale. One of these days I will get started on my own version of a 2’ “dinky” in this larger scale.
At this time I have started to convert an “O” scale 4 wheel diesel to a 30" gauge tramway style loco along the lines of my old HOn30, AHM mini trains. This 30" line will be added to my present 1:22/1:20 layout and will include some dual gauge trackwork.
My HOn30 trains are slowly gaining a new home on a 5 sq. ft. micro layout but that is on the back burner untill next winter.
Have’n fun…OLD DAD
HOn30 was my scale several years ago, got real frustrated with the lousy N gauge drive systems and general lack of stuff and just walked away.
Now in G, but with an interest in On30 and 7/8" also.
Well, I love G scale and to me rivet counting is just not for me.
But what I love to do is weathering and is what I do have at this time.
Well life was simple when I came back to the hobby. I was given my father’s American Flyer ( S gauge) and was content on building a layout around my office when I picked up a Garden Railways Magazine and just knew this was a concept I couln’t pass on. For now Collecting $ and knowledge about G Railroading before jumping in. Now that my daughters had experience with a Lionel (O gauge) I bought her last X-mas ( she’s 8) she’s ready to sell it for some G Stuff. I also have all of my HO stuff, brought home from my Dad’s last weekend…But I had to bring all of his HO stuff back as well, his new Apt. is to small. I guess I have interest in 3 scales but only room for 2. (S) indoors (G)
outdoors. Ho stuff is smaller and requires less storage space.
“Now in G, but with an interest in On30 and 7/8” also." Vsmith
Hey Vic, Bachmann does make On30 stuff very appealing on both looks and price.
HO is the only other way to go for me – too much invested in it, for one thing. N-scale is too small for my eyes and fumble-fingers.
I was just thinking about the HO I do have now. It is sad that what I have I can not paint because of mediciation makes my hands shake. I am 33 going on 67 with my father I guess.
Yes, I know and since moving indoors I have very, very tempted to switch to On30. But I am going to continue with G for now. Maybe after a while I will make the switch.
Vic, This sounds like a good excuse to move all the “G” outdoors and purchase
new On30 for indoors to make maximun use of space[:D] …at least that’s what I would tell my wife[swg]. She did say I left the “Good answer club” along time ago.
