What progress did you make on your layout over the holidays?

Bwa-HAAH! I’ve even got a Felix!

Tom

I put in an HO scale TGV concrete ties under the table coming up and around on my layout.

Unfortunately, limited space dictated that I have a steep angle, and the old TGV hates it!

But it looks fantastic!!!

I have abandoned it for now, but only for now.

None, zip, zilch, nada!

We went out of town for the holidays…

…but I was dreaming [zzz] of my next phase on the layout every night.

May I recommend a lift gate? It sure beats crawling in and out!

This is a simple lift out affair with barrel locks on each end for alignment. The track plugs in on either end to complete the power circuit and to prevent trains from running off the ledge when the gate is open. [V][oops]

A lot actually. I finished the structures for the industrial section in one corner of my layout. On the inside of that curve will be the Walthers Consolidated Dairy complex and I have completed 4 of the 5 structures. Now I need to do the main building which I will start as soon as I have finished taking my break here. My goal is to complete that structure, put down the ground cover and pavement and have the whole thing ready to present on the coming Weekend Photo Fun. I’ve been holding off until I get the whole area completed.

Actually a lot of progress this last weekend. Since moving into my new house, my railroad gear has mostly sat in the basement train room. This weekend I built shelving for 34 feet of railroad: ten feet along one wall, and twenty-four feet along the other wall. I also mounted paneling boards for backdrops and put drywall mud into the cracks. Tonight I’ll sand it down and hopefully have time to apply a coat of primer, to be followed by some sky blue! Then, I can mount my modules and actually be able to run trains for the first time since I moved in September!

I finished ballasting my 8 yard tracks, just the ladder and lead left to do. I also put together 6 Bowser 100 ton hopper kits.

Of course, once I sanded down the drywall mud I noticed that part of my benchwork has a one-inch dip, so I have to tear some of it out and rebuild it correctly. The urge to just stick a stick in there to hold things up is strong, rather than fix it properly, but I know I’ll regret it later if I do… I used my final burst of maniacal energy to prepare part of the lighting system and generally clean up the layout room so I can work without tripping over things…
