It has been at least 10 months since Ive even applied power to my layout which now is in total disrepair, what are a few things I should do to get rolling again if it is even worth repairing? Wow, its been ages since Ive posted on here lol.
No doubt! Where ya been? Cleaning the rails, dusting and vacuuming would be a good start.
Start first by cleaning the track…after ten months some elbow grease may be needed with a briteboy cleaner…I would then start checking any turnouts for operation issues…if your track is clean, turnouts are working and there seem to be no other “bugs” you should be okay to start running some test trains…I myself have had a layout sit idle in the past for quite a long time and a little TLC got it running great…Tim…P.S…what do you mean by disrepair???
Ill clean the rails and dust off the layout to start, thanks for the replies. So far all three of my atlas 8-40CW locos came to life just fine and still sound great. I hope to have a train or two running by tommorow. As for where I have been, school has been keeping me busy and away from any of my hobbies along with the fact I got my first job last year which takes even more free time away. Ill try to be around the forums a bit more often nowadays. I hope I havent missed anything major in the industry during my time away.
Well…They’ve done away with DCC. Everything’s thought controlled and fusion powered now![:P]
Omg how long have I been gone lol
To some of the other sage advice found herein I will add that you might find a loose truck and, applying a small amound of downward pressure, push it around your layout; this will check gauging.
Loathar - shame on you - you forgot the virtual scenery!!![%-)]
