Hi guys,
I’m baffled at what to material my backdrop should be. I have no clue whatsoever. Can someone point me to a nice material and where I can get it?
Thanks,
Mark

I’m planning on using tempered hardboard, and painting the smooth side.
The problem I’d have is that my planned backdrop wuld be double sideded, and I don’t know how to support the hardboard.
I used 1/8" masonite. Pretty flexable.
That’s exactly what I used…and swear by it…
Hardboard can be secured by putting a kerf (groove) in a 2x2 or 2x3 and attaching it to the benchwork. My[2c]
Thanks! That’s much easier than removing the 5 screws I hold each panel in with.[tup]
How would I do that on top of a sheet of plywood and foam?[%-)] Or how do I build a 4x8 with one in the center?
Tempered 1/8" masonite is smooth on both sides. Untempered masonite has a cross-hatch pattern on the reverse. I, too, used 1/8" tempered masonite. I glued 3/4"x5/8" hardwood strips around the back edges to support it. To support a center backdrop, consider glueing two sheets of masonite back-to-back with 3/4" frame strips between them. Leave the strip off the bottom. Then drill holes in the layout and install 3/4" dowels vertically [I would extend the holes into a wood block glued to the underside of the table] and drop the backdrop over the dowels.
Thanks, I need both sides to be painted on… so I guess masonite is the way to go then.
I’m planning on using coroplast. It is a plastic corigaged material commonly used for signs. It is designed to take paint well, is flexible, and if you know a sign makers or can get your hands on old signs (think a day after the election). you can get the stuff for free.
