What size transformer suggestions

Hello everyone, this is my first post as to I am just starting out with my new O guage.
Here is what I have K Line Sante Fe Steam Chief Passenger Train Set
Model K-L1116.
It came with the 4x8 oval track and all the goodies.
Here is what I am doing. I originally baught this to suspend from my sons bedroom ceiling. Plans have changed. Now it is going to be suspended in my sun room. I will end up with a 24’ by 10’ oval all the way around.
My concern is wether the transformer that came with the set will have enough juice to run the full 66 odd feet of track or not. I believe that it is a 40 watt or so. I will be running only the 1 train with 3 lighted passenger cars on the single track.
I haven’t even gotten the train in the mail yet and am giddy with anticipation…

Any suggestions on a way to mount the track to the wall would also be appreciated. Here is my idea.

I will be using 4 inch L brackets on one long wall and the 2 short walls and 3/4 inch plywood for the track bed. On the other 24 foot wall I am planning on having the shelf be approximately 12 inches so that I can display the 20 or so buildings and other scenery stuff I also baught and have yet to receive…
Needless to say I got sucked in hook line and sinker with this train business and am officially a junkie…

Any ideas and input would be great…

Thanks,

If the transformer runs the train adequately now, it will be sufficient on a larger track. Only when the power load increases do you need a bigger transformer. Adding lights, accessories, switches, or lighted cars all increase the load on the transformer.

What you will need for the larger layout are additional feeders (duplicate wires connecting the transformer to the track) because of voltage drop over a large number of track sections. You will see the need when the train slows noticeably when it is far away from the point where the transformer connects to the track.

I can’t add any more than Fred’s good advice to run a bus wire and feeders.
