I suppose if I really wanted to know, I’d first click on the link you provided, then on the name/description of the unit, which brings me to a page with more descriptive text, as well as a link to manuals and instructions. Then I’d click on that link and peruse said instructions and manuals, where I’d no doubt find the information I was looking for.

In the DCC features list it does not mention CV read back and the decoder can access 19 functions. Therefore I vote for a MRC crappy decoder.
Yup, you are both spot on.
A clasic case of RTFM ! (Read The ******* Manual) [(-D]
I later spotted the link to download the operating manual and it is indeed MRC.
Think i’l give it a miss.
Thanks for the feedback anyway.
I made that mistake with my SD60i. When Athearn announced that they were shipping with Tsunami’s I went out and bought one. Didn’t realize until I was running it that it was an MRC.
Shortly after i picked up a Tsunami and did the swap out.
Well the F3 set i was looking at was on ebay. If it goes for reasonable money, it may still be worth buying to swap out the decoders. I’l wait and see.
You might be able to get a motor decoder into the unit and use the MRC decoder for lights and sound like I did to my F45.
In that time frame it would be MRC. The new Genesis will say Tsunami on the box or in the advertisement.
As it turned out, it was’nt worth the money it went for. Fine if you dont mind MRC, but not for me. A second hand A&B set for 147 GBP pluss another £7 for postage and then factor in maybe 2 Tsunami sound decoders at 65 GBP a pop, that makes it about £284 !!
Just aswel wait til a new set comes out in the road name i want with Tsunami’s already installed for the same or maybe less money.
Gary,
it did say in the manual you could have accessed through the link “The Dual-Function decoder is manufactured by Model Rectifier Corporation for Athearn Trains” .
I have a Bowser Stewart F7 with a Tsunami sound decoder - marvelous!
Was this a Test??? [xx(] Not good at tests anymore!!! Kevin
