What To Do With A Corner

Have you ever had a corner on a layout and thought, “What could I do with that?” I was driving through a small town in West Tennesse when I approached a rural community and thought perfect.

I found some small structures, a Walthers/Magnesun kit, Woodland Scenic White metal doctors office, and a DPM; the one with the awnings.

The street is just a mixture of plaster powder and black tempra paints mixed and spread and flatened. The vehicles are Mini-Wheels,American Classics, Lindsey, Life Like tractor.

Well, that’s one corner, many more to go.

Nicely done!

A detailed interior in the buildings across the street will tend to draw the eye away from the closer layout edge and focus on the street scene. More outside details would likely have a similar effect.

Just a suggestion: You may want to do something with that railroad crossing, such as build up the road more with dirt/ballast or put in crossing planks. Those vehicles are going to get one heck of a bump going over the rails![2c]

Tyler:

Good suggestion, in fact I am going to add lumber between the rails and the roads will be brought up to the level of the rail heads.

Thanks

Thats a cool bus, who makes it?

There are a LOT of times I look at my 4X8 and say “what can I do with THIS?” [8D]

I look at my layout sometimes think I can do so much but I don’t have the money and my dad would abolish the idea saying " You need to save your money" I’m lucky I’m geting to make an extra ho loop.

Blair Line makes a number of wood grade crossing inserts that would go well with the 50s look you are working on
