What To Use For Sidewalks

After a few weeks have gone by and I decided to use black roofing shingles for asphalt now I would like to know what you guys use to make sidewalks. Thanks in advance and the roofing shingles work great.

I use strips of masonite that I scribe and score with a sharp knife, then paint.

Scenic Express makes some curbs that are complete with cast-in storm drain. They are fairly easy to cut (they are a rigid foam), but they are a tad on the expensive side. Shown below are Space Marines and Sisters of Battle who responded to a false report of a Mummy rampage by the depot.

Can not resist this one. A “little” arguement about the color of asphalt came up about a month ago. Noticed the last issue of CTT had a thing on modeling streets and they were black. HUMMM. [:-^] Both above looks great. Maybe we will get some more ideas. Helps us guys with unfinished layouts.

Doesn’t someone make some stuff you spread between thick strips of tape, then pull up the tape leaving a cement road or sidewalk?

Ok, Bob, that sidewalk looks really great! But, my kids and I can’t agree - are those Heroscape figures or ??? I say they are from a boardgame “reboot” of Doom 3 or Quake? Maybe Halo? I know there have been some ports to paper and figures for some of the more popular FPS games. Can you settle this for us?

Most of my sidewalks are streight and flat so I use 1/8 th inch thick strip wood available at Home Depot. The width depends on if I am including lamp posts or not. With lamp posts I make them double width 2 1/8 inch or so. Without 1 1/8th. I made a tool to scribe 1/8 inch curbs in the wood and I use a razor saw to cut break lines every inch. The length depends on the buildings. They are spray painted concrete gray, or asphalt black.
