I need your help since I’m clueless about this. I don’t know anything about modern trains so I need you to identify something. Since I do not have a picture I hope I can describe it.
First of, the train was mooned by Roy and friends in the show American Hot rods.
The show is in southern california.
The passenger cars where bi-level.
They where painted in some form of black.
They where pulled by a matching engine that was about as high as the cars.
Do anyone know what it could have been at what models would fit it?
Well, what you describe, the last time we discussed this (which involved making models of the ‘active’ participants in the scene), the thread got locked and ‘disappeared’.
To prevent that from happening again (at least until you get the info), I won’t provide a link, but suggest you enter ‘moon’ and ‘Amtrak’ in google, and look for a .org website in the results (should be near the top).
Who would have guessed that so many people even know what i was talking about.
Andre, that is the train, but I remember it as more black. Anyways, are there any HO models to replica this train? I don’t want to do the moon scene, I just want a modern Amtrak train and this is beautifull. The engine need to be DCC or being able to be DCC by just an easy plug in.
It will mostly be on display but I want to be able to run it.
My stepson and his wife live only a mile or so from the line traversed by the “Capitols” between San Jose and Sacramento. I’ll see if I can get some pictures for you the next time we visit.
Lillen, the train(s) in question are the Amtrak Surfliners, not the Capitols. This picture makes the blue look very dark: http://www.trainweb.com/routes/route_ps/
That’s probably what made you think there was some black involved. If you get the Athearn FP59HI, you’ll want it in the Surfliner scheme.
There is an annual event in Southern California wherein the participants flash their gluteals at the trains. There’s even a website for it, although I’m not posting a link for fear of having the post or entire thread deleted. If you can make it to Laguna Niguel on July 12, you can participate in the festivities.
