Sorry for such a simple question:
I’m building some various rolling stock kits and I’ve painted some of the parts on them, and I want to add painted people to my passenger cars. Using regular model cement on painted parts doesn’t work very well, so what type of glue should I use for these painted things? Is Walthers Goo a product that would work? Is there anything I could find at a Lowes or Walmart?
Goo would work; Woodland Scenics also makes a special contact glue for putting people and scenery in place. Depending on how permanent you want the connection to be, you can also use something like a dab of latex chalk to hold the people in place.
Why not just use white glue?
I use a small dab of “rubber cement” to hold my people in place. That way, if I decide to move them around they come right up and you can rub the cement off and put some new cement on and put them somewhere else. I use it for the brakemen and conductor on my cabooses, station people, passengers, etc. Holds pretty well and doesn’t damage the people or the surface they are glued to. I really like the rubber cement idea. I model N scale and the people are so small that it is really hard to get them in place with CA. I should be able to just dip the feet of my people in rubber cement, give it a bit of time to set up and then stick them in place, right? Sounds like it would work great.

I found some neat stuff at the hardware store for puttig people in cars and trainmen in locos, cabooses and switchers. It is Lexcel clear. Other sillcone products will work too. GE makes one. The best part is that if you want to move the people around it is easy. This stuff is a lot cheaper than the LHS products.
