What year postwar 773?

Me again.
I recently purchased what is purported to be a nice Lionel “1964” 773 loco.
I am servicing it this week.
Not quite sure that this is a 1964. For the life of me I can’t discern between the ‘50 vs “64 valve gear.
Also, it was my understanding that Lionel added a third magnet for the worm cover. Mine just has two.
The rollers are correct for ‘64 super O, but those could have been changed out. Here’s a pic of my running gear. 773 numbers appear to be the smaller variety.
Ok. No photo as I don’t know how ro insert it in this forum. Thx!

Try these folks, go to " Identify Lionel Postwar" and look up the 773.

I wonder if somebody maybe tried to make a Frankenstein’s locomotive and mixed up some parts.
Anyway, to upload photos, you can just copy and paste it into the spot you want.

Thx, Penny.
Those icons don’t show up in my windows.
Maybe a FNG isn’t permitted.

Actually I saw that, but I couldn’t comprehend. Ha.
I finally found a pic with helpful arrows pointing to the “missing” valve guide in the 1964 issue.
It’s on the steamchest. So I guess I really do have a ‘64. The only having 2 magnets through me off.
Btw….before I replace the magnet/worm cover how much grease to add? Pretty dry in there now.

Enough to put a coating on the pressure faces of all the teeth in the geartrain.

But no more than that: you don’t need a ‘reservoir’ of grease to be picked up and paddled internally… or to harden in globs as it ages.
