Whats a G-90?

I got a L&N timetable and in it is engines and one of the engines is a G-90.
What is it and where can i get pics of this engine. First time i’ve heard og a G-90

Are you sure you were looking at that correctly? There is no such thing as a G-90. Are you sure you didn’t mean GP-9. Is that the number of the train or it’s classification number?

James

I don’t know what it might be, the context may tell you what type of locomotive it is.
It may be a L&N classification rather than a model number. For example a S90 is a slug unit built in a particular batch. There were S70, and S85 models as well. Where in the timetable is the G-90 referenced? Bridge restrictions or the tonnage table? As an example a Pennsy ERS-17d would be an EMD GP9

E = EMD
RS = Road Switcher
17 = 1700 hp.
d = 4th batch purchased

The only thing that I can find that would be close to a G-90 would actually be an L&N class S-90. It shows these being Baldwin VO1000, unit numbers 2150-2151,2155, & 2160-2162.

How old is the timetable you have?

This may be a very old time table L&N had class G ten wheelers.

From what I have looked through, L&N didn’t have a class G-90 in steam.

Their class G ten wheelers only went up to class Class G-23 in “Louisville and Nashville Steam Locomotives”, by Richard Prince.

Class designations G-20 to G-23 were assigned to the LH&St.L. to classify their power. The G-23 class was the only class relettered L&N.

it was in the tonnage section.

thanks for the replys
