What's going on with the Forum?

What in the world is going on with the forum? I mark “All Thread as Read”, come back and look, and theads hours or days old are showing as “un-read”.

What’s up with that?

Rotor

Something has been going on for 2 days. I had a heck of a time posting yesterday. Screens kept hanging up. I kept having to hit refresh after “post” to get my replies to post. Maybe Al figured out how to hack the server.[:P]

Same here.

On the Bachmann Spectrum steam engine thread, ALL posts are ALL shown twice!

So it’s not just me. I’ll post a message to Bergie.

Now that’s just weird.

The forum has been unusually slow for me, anyone else?

Slow is the word for it. Sometimes it takes a minute or more to get a reply to post, and I’m on high-speed cable.

I think the better question is why didnt I kow we could do that!

Nothing wrong here, at least for now. Stuff like this happens to me periodically, but you haven’t heard me whine about it. Now it is your turn. Next it will be mine. And so on. Learn to live with it. Have a beer, a glass of wine, listen to music that relaxes, or whatever it takes to put your mind at rest. Breath deeply…aaaahhh.

Mark

Seems okay at the moment…

Paul

EDIT: Was a bit slow to post

Yep…and in 2 different threads.

Is there a full moon tonight?

Rotor

Do what?

There were 2 duplicate threads. One has been deleted.

I posted in one, and it showed up in both. [:O]

insert “X-Files” theme here.

Periodically internet links in general are slow. And periodically the forum has been slow or down (especially Monday morning here in Europe - ie night between Sunday and Monday in the US - probably backup of forum databases).

But there has been consistent trouble with speed on the trains forums lately. Only the forums, not the other pages on trains.com.

And I wonder if not the forum base URL has changed from being http://www.trains.com/cs/ to being http://cs.trains.com

Selector - I would give Bergie a tip that they should have someone check out their new server (?) and see if there is a new problem there.

If the forum software has been reinstalled on a new machine, there might be one or more settings that have not been migrated correctly.

Smile,
Stein

Not whining, more like wondering. Was initially worried it was my machine. Other members indicate it was a site issue.

Rotor

Stein, I have a number of members are having problems to Bergie with dual posts and so on. He will probably see the message in the morning. I’m sure he’ll deal with it via his technical support.

Yah, it’s acting ESPECIALLY weird tonight. Even weirder than usual. I usually have some strange times with this forum as far as posting or waiting for an answer, but today it’s REALLY on full bore.

Did a mosquito get into the main frame and give it the West Nile Virus?

Hmm—

Tom [#oops]

I have not found it any slower/worse than usual. There are much worse web sites out there than this one but I do understand that some people have issues (I always wish for faster sites [:D] ). Let’s hope they can fix it up and get the site running nice and smooth for everyone.

I’m no computer expert, but it looks more like a local server issue rather than a website matter. Otherwise, why do you all have problems now, but I don’t (while other times I have the same problem when none of you complain.)
