Whats the best way to get excess smoke fluid residue off your engine?

A train store owner recommended windex which sounds like a good idea, will this affect the paint job? He told me to stay away from goo gone.

So far I have tried soaking a paper towel with water and rubbing it, hasn’t really done much, maybe only helped a little.

Tube sock turned inside out.

I use a rag with a little mild dish detergent then quickly dry it off with a clean rag.

I’ve been using a clean, dry rag - an old cotton t-shirt. Works good.

What Pete said. whats left will dry off sooner or later.

A hot air hair dryer could work.
