What's up with the anonymous members?

Just wonder why you would remain anonymous? What purpose does this serve? Just a question not an attack.

Good question Marty.

I just did a search on the FAQ (i imagine you probably did too) and couldn’t find any references to this.

PS Good to see you over here.

What do you mean? Please explain![?][?]

I’m not sure, maybe its a member who didn’t log in for what ever reason. Maybe only whated to surf and not post???

There is a box in your profile that you can uncheck to be anonymous whenever you’re logged in.
Since we’re all using aliases (or most of us are), I’m not sure why anyone would do this - it might be they unchecked the box without realizing at the time what it does.
Enjoy

I think that you’re “anonymous” if you’re not logged in under your screen name. Also, if you’re the owner of a competing website, just checking things out, you might wi***o stay anonymous.[:D]

Correct, and I don’t believe that you can post if you are in the anonymous mode, as I have been all over these forums and have never seen one.

Go into your personal profile and there is a box you must check listed under “privacy settings” that when checked will then display your name on the list of who is on line. Mine was not checked, so I must have been one of those anonymous members. I still could reply and such. But I changed mine now!

Interesting Butleryard, did you notice if your name appeared at the bottom of the page when you were anonymous? There are some features of this software that are kind of funky, I guess that only Bergie knows for sure what everything does and how it works. I’ve seen and tried a lot of things, but not all of them.[:)]

No it wasn’t, just annoymous, When I read this topic, I went into my profile and found the box and checked it. Now my name is listed and shows up!

I am one of “those” hinding in the bushes waiting to pounce

Also just to note gang - that Jeff Cohen of K-Line is registered here (using his name as author) as he posted info once here on the K-Line February thing they did. So it’s certainly possible that people affiliated with companies might want to check things out without being listed as being on board. Which of course they can do without registering. But in the case of Jeff Cohen, he can also post too. Which he also did at the OGR Forum, mostly as a PR vehicle to inform people of events, giveaways and shows.

There could be other types like that registered here, who just want to read - but leaving open the option of posting. And I believe you can be notified when you (or your company) are mentioned.

OK Well I guess that answers it. Personally I’d rather show up.

I just fixed mine to MartyE. I just missed it when setting up the registration.
