Why is Union Pacific holding up traffic for the BNSF in Fort Maddison?
What’s the question? Your series of shots show a train moving on the tracks. Is it just going too slow?
Your Rochelle series shows trains hours apart. Look at the times. Your top series can’t be more than a couple of seconds between the first and last. Look at the autos. You can follow them down the road.

Before the pictures got changed, I got saved shots from a 30 minute period of a Union Pacific train sitting their doing nothing. My question is, does anyone know why the UP train was doing that?
No idea. What’s up with the Rochelle camera? Is that connected to the question?

There are only an infinate number of reasons that any train can be sitting still for 30 minutes…most all of the legitimate operating occurences.

It could be any one of 42 different reasons why the train is stopped, and I’m not going to list them all.
Maybe the bridge is open to allow a barge to pass thru[?][?]

I think I answered the question. At one time on this cam you could have gotten a better shot of the bridge. I used to time them in most cases the transaction from the opening of the bridge to the closing takes on average 15 minutes or more. There is a signal about 1/4 mile passed the road that now you can not see. Once upon a time you could key into that signal & know when the signal lit a EBer was on its way. When that signal is red the EB trains must stop before the road since they all have that I observed[:D][:D]

I thought so to it was UPRR bashing by the tone of the post. Just by the luck of the draw the UPRR train was caught at FM when the bridge was opening. I watch the FM cam a lot & when they have greens the UPRR is hot tailing it thru FM just like the BNSF does. The poster better think twice about UPRR bashing as maybe they will build that connector at Edelstein IL unplug EL Paso then they will swamp the BNSF with A/rackers & D/stackers/Intermodal which will slow down BNSF own running on there transcon. [:D][:D]
