When did the roof walks have to go away. That said, what did the Wheeling and Lake Erie loco roster look like on the last day of roof walks. Anybody care to comment.

Wayne,The W&LE was long gone by by the mid 60s when roof walks started being removed.You see the W&LE was merged into the NKP in 1949 and the NKP was merged into the N&W in '64.

The new W&LE arrived on May 17,1990…

Larry, thanks for the info. I have spent tthe last several weeks looking for information, a snapshot so to speek of what the W&LE looked like on 5/17/90 relative to the motive power roster and I have not been successful. Do you have any ideas.

Wayne,W&LE used exSouthern GP35s for start up without the W&LE.

I had several pictures of the W&LE in the 90s but,like 80% of my pictures and 90% of 40-50 year old slides they was lost in the Bucyrus flood of 87.
