Hello, I am in the process of building a 13’ by 9’, HO scale, double-main line G-shaped layout. Each line (loop) is approximately 50-60 feet long. I have the Digitax Zephyr, it has 2.5 amps. I would like to run 2-3 trains max at a time, maybe one in each line and one in the yards. Do I need another booster?
Thanks in advance,
Pablo
It it highly unlikely that you would need a booster.
2.5A Zephyr is more than capable of running that many locomotives. If you are running a lot of long lighted passenger cars, perhaps you would start to hit the limits, but I doubt it. Make sure you do a decent job with the power bus and feeders and you will be fine.
Easy one, NO.
Just make sure you have enough feeders.
Should be no problem running that with just the Zephyr. I’ve run as many as 8 locos at a time with my Zephyr, and 4 of those had sound.

I have a 22’ x 42’ layout with a double mainline powered by an NCE PH-Pro 5 amp system. I run 4 to 6 sound locos at time, sometimes more. I don’t need an additional booster, and I am sure that you don’t either.
