When is the best time for internet train sales???

Hi,

For the last few years during the Holiday season, I have put several HO (and some postwar Lionel) items up for sale on Ebay, with fairly good results. I typically have about 50 -100 new and used items in an attempt to thin out (so I can upgrade) my collections. Obviously, the best time to sell is from Thanksgiving to perhaps February, but I would like to narrow that down.

My question to “you all” is, when do you think is the best time to sell trains on the internet -

A - Thanksgiving thru mid December?

B - Mid December thru Christmas?

C - Christmas thru mid January?

D - Other ???

Might be an idea to pose your questions on the Classic Toy Trains Forum, that’s where the Lionel guys usuallu hang out.

B, definitely… Mad rush for that got-to-have item means more bidders and higher final sale price.

Having been an active e-bay purchaser for a few years the best time to sell train items is Oct to Spring. October to Xmas being the busiest, prices usually slacken near spring.

The best time to buy obvioulsy being spring to fall.

Can not have it both ways it seems.
