The HO scale scene has a choice now for non-brass PRR K4s between 4 (count 'em, FOUR) manufacturers: Bachmann, Bowser, BLI, and now MTH. The last non-brass PRR K4 produced in N scale was by Minitrix waaaaaay back some 30+ years ago.
Where’s the N scale K4? I’ve suggested it to PCM, but they didn’t comment on it. I also suggested GHQ make a cast K4 boiler for the Model Power 4-6-2, much the way they made a PRR L1 conversion kit for the Kato 2-8-2.
Who else wants an N scale K4??? Let’s make some noise![yeah]
Maybe a Bachmann Spectrum K4 in N scale…Their HO version is nice. [tup][tup] It would be cheaper than PCM, and would still have a good level of detail and the performance Spectrum steamers are known for…
And it would probably go over better with Bachmann than my short rant about a Spectrum S2 turbine.[:I]
I happen to have one of those minitrix’s, and it runs pretty good for it’s age. I’d right inline for a new one if we could talk a manufacture into making it. All of them have web sites so, we could start a write in campain for a great loco.
After all I’ve heard about MTH?[:o)] Seriously, I’m doubting they’re interested in N. And I need a circa 1950s K4, not the pinstriped 1927 version.[:P]
