Where are the BNSF B units?

Two questions:

  1. What happened to burlington’s b30-7 b units? I remember they were plentifull on trains along the wisconsin river in the 90’s. Do they still have them? If not does anybody out there know their disposition?

  2. Santa Fe had a number of gp-60 b units. Same questions - are they still out there and where can they be found.

Happy Holidays to all,

This year the BNSF GP60B Locomotives have been running through with other Locos over the Canadian National’s Michigan line between Chicago and Battle Creek.

The BNSF B30-7A(B)s were turned in to Lessor begining January 2, 1999. They are all off the roster. Some have been sold to shortlines, some may still be up for sale. Data from LocoNotes.

Thanks for the info Cotton Belt. You mentioned loco notes - are you refering to the yahoo group? I’m not sure if I want to register for it. They want a lot of personnal info - plus a short essay on why you want to join. Its a little insulting.

Yes LocoNotes is a Yahoo Group. They ask why you want to join the group to keep the spammers out. LocoNotes has proven invaluable to me for researching dispositions.

It seems the BNSF GP60Bs can be found on about any BNSF train. I’ve seen them on intermodals and on manifests. They also own a few GP9Bs which seem to spend most of their time in yard and local service.
