I know for a while these hot rods ran the Trans-Con doing alot of Inter-Modal runs. Seemed like in their hey-day, they got all the hot trains. As time went with the 90’s, they seemed to have dissappeared up there (The BNSF Trans-Con is 2.5 hours north of me in Flagstaff). I assumed they got replaced by the bigger -9’s and the 4400’s. Anyone have an idea where they went or were some are used today?
LOL… [bow], that’ll do. I hopped back online to check railpictures.net to see if I could find some modern day shots. BAM. Thanks for the effort Data. I am gonna go and cruise RP.net. I do like the H3 scheme. Very sharp.
Guess I just havent seen any. Come sometime in the spring, I plan on camping up there for a fewdays and give me a chance to watch a bunch of power. Been a few years since I have had a chance to hang and watch the tracks by Flagstaff.
I’m glad that was enough. I’m on a low-speed dial-up, so going through dozens of pictures takes a while, or else I could have responded to you earlier. [4:-)]
I am glad to know they are still alive and well, as they are among my favorite motive power…in some ways they remind me of a modern day “bull dog nosed” F unit.
Nice to see I am not alone in thinkng they are good lookin loco’s. They are one of my favorites. I guess the wide cab, short hood and the cooling fan bulge give it a nice look.
Ok, I will bite. What the heck is a “M” or “H” trains
