I am looking for some sound effects where can i find some free train sound FX . also,
Up near my house there is a trail(now used by 4 wheelers) that is built up like you see some rail lines around places. I was wondering where I could find a map of the area rail spurs and see if there was one and where it went Does anyone know where I can find theese things??
Try www.topozone.com. This is a free (supported by ads) online version of USGS topo maps, and you can use a search box to find any named location.
Note that some maps are old (not updated since the 50s) which means they are good for finding old rail lines, but not so good for driving today’s roads.
I’m not sure whether SPV has done Wyoming yet in its series of atlases, but if it has, that would at least tell you whether there was an abandoned railroad (main) line in your area.
If you figure that it wasn’t a main line, but instead an industrial spur, the logiocal thing to do would be to follow it to either end–a railroad should be at one end, and who knows what might be at the other? Adventure awaits!
It will be hard to follow becasue it goes up a hill and then along the road and some houses have been built on it and then it doesnt become evident that it was the until about 20 miles north and I know for a fact that the one north was a rail spur but I was just thinking that it may be the same one, becasue it you go south you have no choice but to hit the mainline sooner or later
Also, thanks everyone www.topozone.com was cool to look at but didnt help much. It is too new to see if there was somthing there and too old to have newer thing on it. I tried a site i got from a friend it is microsoft terraserver. It is a ariel sattlite picture also taken by the USGS. and i found the trail and it looks too perfect to be just a trail it had to have been somthing it starts here http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=3220&y=23048&z=12&w=2 and you can follow it north and you can see where it is joined by a road and then it disappears and then I haven’t had a chance to find it where I know it is further north.
