Yes!!![:D][:D][:D][:D]

I saw one at the ex-CB&Q Cicero yard a week or so ago, in a typical manifest train mixture of 20 years of power, H2 paint. They’re rare here, perhaps one every six months or so.

You can usually find them running hot shots. They come into the PNW fairly often, but turn right back. And they are not washing them either.

Seen one in trail of an CSX C40-8W in the H1 Paint.[:)] rare sight 'cause it was the first time seeing it![^]

Come by and hang around the BNSF Eola yard for long enough and you are bound to see one or more eventually.

I see them sometimes between L.A.and Barstow. They run them on the steel slab train between the l.A. harbor and the ex Kaiser steel plant in Fontana,CA.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

That souds like a good idea, I live near there…

saw one here today up on the CN, was trailing a CN dash9!.

Chris, usually on weekends with decent weather you can find some of us hanging around the McClure Road crossing at the BNSF main line (there is a unpaved parking lot on the Southeast corner of the crossing). I am talking about right accross the tracks from the yard offices. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons from about 1:30 to about 4:30 seem to be the bests times to catch the railfan crowd. Remember this is usually true only if the weather is decent. We see lots of trains on most days and Amtrak usually comes through at this time of the afternoons. GP60B units come through fairly frequently and I have seem ABA and sometimes ABBA lashups from time to time but admittadly they are the exception to the rule. Once in a while we will also see “kitbashed” SD40-2B units rebuilt from wrecked units. Hope to see you at Eola some day. Jim

I didnt see you guys yesterday as I deadheaded home on Amtrak would have waved but oh well thhppppttt! Just kidding it was cold cold cold glad it was Amtrak and not some work at every station junk train.

Hey route rock, thanks for looking for us, but as you have stated it was just too *** cold to be trackside…but I just might have been for Amtrak’s passings if it were not for the fact that I am attending my company management meeting in Acapulco right now (yep, I know I should not be on line but am just back in my room changing clothes). Please keep an eye out for us as we (at least some of us) are frequently there, even some on days such as yesterday. Jim

Are you talking about one of these?

We might have seen the same one! I just saw one myself yesterday (the 3rd) in Durand trailing a CN dash-9 heading east

That sounds great. I will probably be out there in two or three weeks, as that is when my Chrismas break is, and since I am only 14, I rely on my dad to take me railfanning, and he said he would take me wherever over break. I went to Eola once a year ago and remember having a great time. I saw 2 GP30s!!! One Whiteface BN unit!!! (I am a huge BN fan) and a Dash 7!!! It was great!!!

That’s a GP60M- rgroeling is referring to its cousin the GP60B.

Originally coming from the Chicagoland area, I remember seeing these rare units once of twice while waiting at Joliet Union Station. The BNSF still run hot shot intermodals on the old raceway to Barstow.

I’ve seen a few come through on the UP. In fact, I saw one mid train…and get this crap…it was idling. It was in full ATSF dress, so figure that out.

i still see them quite often. in galesburg and chillicothe. and when i go to kansas city once a year.

but to me, this thing is alot more rare to me. even though its basically kept in galesburg, its ALWAYS buried deep in the pit. ive only seen it out a couple times. but hey, IMHO

Obviously that was earlyer than 2002 otherwise it wasn’t a GP60B. A stated before every GP60B has been painted into Heritage 1 by 2002.
