Where did all these forum MTH ‘newbies’ come from? … and all posting around the time of the SHOW? Hmmm! COINCIDENCE?
… all claim to be knowlegable on a product that hasn’t been released -one even claims to have tested in against several leading DCC system’s. How many of us have bought more than one system ? 3 or more??

They are self appointed spokesmen for MTH. They have this wild halucination that MTH revolutionized the O gauge industry and seem to think MTH will revolutionize HO. LMAO

Literally, to read some of the comments about DCC they have made.
Sounds like they are describing older DCC systems.
HO and N modelers have divided into two camps - those who want to remain with DC, and those who have embraced DCC. Neither camp will convert to DCS, and most newbees will divide up with the two established camps rather than use a system that NO ONE in their scale uses. That leaves the MTH system with O scale - assuming that they can hold on and not lose out to DCC there, too.
Yeah, Don - I think they are “plants”, too - just as bogus as the “announcement” thread.

I don’t think they are newbies. If they build it, will the HO world buy it?? They had better bring out other locomotives besides a K4, that has been done, and done and done until even I don’t need any more.
Competition is great and I always welcome new products to the HO market, but it has to be something that is needed and at a price it will sell.
A NP A4, A5 or even the A3 would have been a winner for a new entry into our market, providing it looked and ran good. BLI and MTH seemed to start advertising their K4’s about the same time or within a few months, so where is it???
My dealer is not getting any of the new MTH HO engines.
How about a GS4 with sound and all the goodies.
Maybe they will pick something else like the NYC Hudson…
Who says there is more than one? All you need to sign on is an email adress and you can get email adresses on many sites for free.
At least one persona had some information about the system. My personal grip about the system is the claime to “Scale Speed” with 1 scale mile per hour between the 120 speed settings on the system. They try to weasle out of that claim in one spot on their hand out by wording it as “120 adjustable maximum engine speed settings” but later is the same list claim “120 Speed steps - Control engins speed in increments of 1 smph.”
On a system where the “decoders” are engineered to work with a specific motor / drivetrain / power supply combination I can see the claim to scale speed settings. Untill you run another engine from the same power supply or hook an train to the locomotive or run it up or down an incline.
I am not an electrical engineer or even expereanced with DCC or DCS but I feel confidant in saying that if you are going to control something that accuratly you have to measure it. Where is the DCS speed sensors? If, as one posted stated, DCS “decoders” will be avalable for non-MTH locomotives then I don’t see how they could include speed sensors or even calculate a “Scale Speed”.
DCS has 120 speed settings. They are not “scale” anything. They change according to the load on the engine and the current avalable from the power system. DCC has up to 128 speed settings that depend on the same variables.
IMHO DCS would be a bad buy because MTH could close it’s doors tomorrow and I would be left holding another 8 trac / Betamax. If on the other hand I went with one of the DCC compliant systems and that company went out of bussiness every one of my decoders at the very least would still be usefull.
I lost my fortune tellers liscence but with all the negative feelings about MTH, I think the owners would be silly not to dump the name. If they get control of Lionel look for DCS and all things MTH to fade awa
I’m a O scaler but like this forum and I’m NOT a MyTH Fan . I basicly prefer prewar so DCC and DCS don’t intrest me really I prefer the old transformer controll. and do my sound with recording and all . I think MTH could have found a better way to do something and work with others instead of thru the courts but let them do what they wish most I know don’t like MTH in fact would rather have some Marx than MTH there that P.O. with them.
I feel MTH will get theres in the long run as I’m a firm believer of what goes around comes around

Newbie??? Why am I a newbie, and what does the show have to do with anything. I live in Utah, and the last show I went to was months and months ago… [;)]
Hasn’t been released… Hmmmm… I guess I better sell my DCS set as I have some yet unreleased product. If you are referring to the PS3 boards and HO stuff, it’s all speculation at this point, and I make that clear in all my posts. As far as owning more than one DCC system, I have had 8 different systems in the last 5 years, and currently use a Super Chief.
Why does someone have to work for a company to appreciate the products they produce, or defend them in a forum setting such as this? I am a programmer by trade and have no affiliation with MTH whatsoever.

If you truly have a complaint about forum topics (good, bad, etc.), start some good ones that YOU want to talk about. Don’t snipe at the people who are already here.
Has anyone tried DCS? I haven’t. To be honest, I assume anyone who says anything positive about MTH is a plant, but, y’know, I’ve got no personal experience with them, and that’s probably not fair on my part. I’ll probably keep on doing it, though. I’m not one to run with the herd, unless it’s a good herd. The folks on this forum have demonstrated that they are a good herd. Moo.
To me, though, DCS is like 8-track tapes. Whatever virtues it may have, it’s already missed the boat. The train has left the station. The horse has left the barn. Someday, it may gain the stature of casettes. Ooops, casettes have joined the dodo, too. Mike, you’re too late. Cut your losses, make your locos DCC-ready, settle with Lionel for a reasonable figure, and get back to trains. If not, enjoy the lights of my caboose. That’s te last you’ll see of me.
No one here is talking about you. I find your posts to be coherent and on topic. We are talking about a couple of other guys (same guy???) who are offering not substantive arguement/discussions posts but simply taking the counter in an attempt to get a rise out of people on an overheated topic…

Why do these things have to be brought up. In my opinion, it seems like everytime someone types the three letters “MTH” someone has to bring up something, and slam MTH into the ground. Why?
And now everyone is thinking that because someone new says something about MTH around the time of a show makes them affiliated with MTH in some way? Jeesh, I liked it before the lawsuit between Lionel and MTH occured, because I said a lot about MTH then, now I’m afraid I’ll be shunned into some category with everyone else who believes that Mike puts out some good stuff.
