Hi everyone I was wondering where the last hiawatha train ends at night. Is it here in Milwaukee or down in Chiacgo. I was wondering this cause every morning when i go by the amtrak station. I see the train waiting to leave at about 6:15 or so. And if they do keep the train here where do they fuel it. Also does it stay at the station or does it go and sit over by mitchell yard. Thanks
The time table indicates that there are two sets of equipment. Each makes three round trips a day for six days a week so one set starts the day with a departure from Milwaukee and the other starts from Chicago. For those days, each set ends the day where they started. I don’t know where any service is provided in Milwaukee, but it could be right at the station. In Chicago, the equipment is no doubt serviced in the Amtrak maintenance yard south of Union Station.
On Sunday, each set only makes two and a half round trips, so for the new week, the train sets have swapped starting points. I suspect that more thorough service and maintenance work is done at the Chicago yard and the swap puts each train set overnight in Chicago every other week.
