Where is it 1/13/06

Dang, that looks familiar…can’t think of where it is, or why it’s familiar, though…

That’s the fun of it.[8D]

Was going to guess Yakima River Canyon, which often sees empty grain trains, but I think this guy would be heading the wrong direction in relation to the river. Upon closer scrutiny, the road tunnel at upper left makes me think this is the Columbia River west of The Dalles. Which would make this a loaded westbound grain train.

Yes it is a westbound. And your on the right track.

Guess I should make that west of NORTH Dalles, since The Dalles is really on the south (UP) side of the river.

I knew what you meant.[;)]

I’ll acept the nearest sideing or a location within 10 miles as this spot is not any named location.

Near Roosevelt Washington?

Boy this one dropped down like a led zepplin.

I don’t feel like posting another right now so you guy will have to keep guessing on this one.

No it’s not near Roosevelt, think Cascades.

Stampede Pass?

That is in the Cascades but not that line.

I’ll leave you with one more clue before I sign off for the night, The water is the Columbia river.

Moody,Washington?

Gotta be somewhere in the Stevenson/Carson stretch- Google satellite images (what few I can access, anyway) show oodles of tunnels through there, both Highway 14 and the railroad cut through alot of ridges along the river.

Gettin pretty warm there.

And Max I don’t know where Moody is.

I couldn’t find that town either.

About the best I can do at this point is just run through the list of towns along that stretch. The google satellite images have too many holes in them- I can’t find a view that looks like it would match that line-up of highway/railroad/tunnel/river. Home Valley?

Good enough. It’s just east of the sideing of Cooks,Wa., In between the towns of Home Valley and Bingen,Wa.

And you are doing better at mine then I am at yours.

Moody Tunnel, my mistake.
