In the book,C&O Power,the name of peach creek yard comes up several times,I have tried several web sites that deal with the C&O,I have also tried the C&O and Chessie historical societies and still can’t locate it.This information is needed for a modeling project on a friends layout Where was it located? on what division? If you know any thing about this “lost” yard please let me know.
Peach Creek Yard was (is?) C&O’s major facility just outside Logan, West Virginia. Logan’s on a branch that joins the C&O main line at Barboursville (just east of Huntington). I doubt that too much coal comes from up that line any more.
Carl: Thank you!!I will pass this information on to my buddy.This is the area that he is going to model.the era he is modeling is 1950.This is his frist layout and he wants to do it right.He has collected C&O steam engines over the years including 2 0-10-0s,like the C&O used at peach creek yard,and wants to model the yard.Thank you again.
