Where is the Frisco?

I am working on a 12 X 50 layout based on the Frisco and interchanges in Saint Louis. There is no shortage of rolling stock and even cabooses, but where can I get motive power in this road name?

You don’t get many R-T-R options with Frisco, but if you’re modeling any time from the 70’s to the time of the BN merger in the mid eighties there are a few choices. Here are some I found listed by their Walthers part number:

Walthers GP15-1 part no. 931-357, 931-367, or no number 931-377.

Athearn GP38-2 part no. 140-4642 (powered) and 140-4692 (dummy).

Athearn SD40-2 part no. 140-4480 (dummy)(possibly discontinued).

Athearn SW1500 part no. 140-3938 (powered) and 140-3958 (dummy).

If you’re looking for something from an earlier era, you may have a more difficult time. You may want to consider painting your own locomotives. It seems like the red and white is a simple enough scheme to mask and paint. Also, check eBay.com and walthers.com. I just picked over the catalog quickly since I had been looking at it earlier today and knew where to find this information, but you may find more online. Good luck.

I don’t know if this would be of any help, but I myself and a few other people I know have many photos of the Frisco in and around St Louis. About the only unit I don’t have a photo of is the GP-15. GP40-2’s, U boats, etc.
Wasn’t that long ago Athearn brought out their SD40 and GP in Frisco. A great railroad that should not have been ignored so long,
