The other two locations I have never been to but I live in Western Australia. I will give some idea of the Trans Australian Railway it is 1051 miles long from Port Augusta South Aust to Parkeston West Aust there are no towns it is in a desert, flat where you can see the horizion on land,it also has the longest straight track in the world about 250 odd miles. The state capital Perth where I live is is another 400 miles to the west and the Westnet line connects with the Trans Australia line at Kalgoorlie {Parkeston is a couple of miles east of there]
Not Exactly remote, but certainly disconnected, due to operation with electric motive power- possibly of interest: TXU’s Montecello Line in the Montecello Winfield area open pit mines; as wll as the TXU Martin Lale operations as well, in East Texas.
