Many years ago my father who worked on Reading RR as station agent had staight long o-gauge track that had wooden ties. you then worked by pushing the ties and could form a curved section of track with what ever diameter you wanted.
I need this because the Acela does not stay on the Lionel 72" curved track.
Where can you buy such track today with the wooden ties or a similar material that will allow the buyer to form a larger diameter than 72" ?
Check the ad’s in CTT. Atlas and Gargraves to name a few sell preformed track with radi larger than 72". There is also flex track that can be formed to any radius you want.
Sounds like GarGraves track to me too! Check out this site www.gargraves.com or www.rossswitches.com They carry track and switches with wider radius than 072.
My grandfather used to work for the Reading RR as a painter and handyman, he painted or repaired the stations along the Reading tracks north of Reading going to towards the Poconoes, PA. He retired from the Reading RR with a very good pension, before he passed away in 1992.
I have the pre-war freight set he bought my father, has a 249E loco with a hopper and dump car and caboose.
I used to live in Muhlenberg Township, just north of Reading PA, even though I live in Florida I know of the Reading Railroad, Reading Lines was the freight division and Reading Company was the passenger division, the FEDS(the United States government) broke up the Reading Company in the early 1900’s & claimed it was a major monopoly that was way too large!!! The Reading used to own mines and ship the coal to cities in the area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
