I have male banana jacks on my portable layout so I can rapidly plug into and out of my DCS or CW-80 trainsformers. I want to replace the CW-80 with an old ZW. I would like to update the old ZW with banana jack recepticals. I went to radio shack and the only thing they had was a wall mounted panel with 8 “female” banana jacks for $25. They carry the banana jacks but not the receptical. Does anyone know where I can find the banana jack receptical at a lower cost?

Radio Shack has them…or at least they had them. Check in their catalog. I’d say ask one of the employees but unfortunately RS doesn’t pay well so these days their people don’t really know the products. They always used to be hanging on a rack in the parts section. These days they don’t stock as many parts as they used to so now many are special order.

Radio shack sell “5 way connectors” which have a scew terminal combined with a female banana receptacle. The come two in a pack, I think, and are suitable for mounting on a chassis or project box.
Or you could just spring for a Z-4000; it comes with built in banana receptacles.[:D]

This is what I found…the search might be incomplete, they may actually have more. There are at least two listings on that page that show banana plug jacks.

The 274-725 was the one I was talking about. You could use the 274-718, but it costs twice as much and is built to accept the 274-717 dual plug. You could use it, but you really don’t need it, so why pay the extra two bucks.
Thanks all!
I am on my way to radio shack now!
