I have now built enough Agrro trees to run out of furnace filter. I went to my Walmart, and they did not stock it any more. Any one have any hints???
Lowe’s, Stine’s, Home Depot.
Thanks for the first response. To clarify, I am looking for the natural fiber filters, the little sticks glued together, died deep blue. I will tried the local Lowes.

HOME DEPOT. That’s where I buy ALL my forests, LOL! Of course, it’s blue, but–oh, well–
It’s usually right by the furnace filter covers, right around the corner from the stupid ‘popcorn’ insulating foam that they’ve substituted for the REAL stuff --at least out here in Sunny Cal.

That’s odd my father always buys furnace filters at wal-mart. If they don’t have `em like others said try Lowe’s, Home Depot, or Do It Best.
HOME DEPOT is only other place I’ve located it so far. You can probably find it in the stores the other guys listed too though.
Hi ARTHILL,
I bet that if you inquire around among your friends, that they will have “old blue fiber filters”. I had enough fiber from 10 old filters that somehow were not thrown out. I,also grind up the green foam (that florists use to poke flower stems into, in forming large boquets). I happen to have an old coffee grinder, that grinds up shredded foam into ground coffee size particles. For that matter, one can shake old coffee grounds in diluted green Latex paint, to create material for sifting on the furnace filters, that have been spray painted with Hunters green. After the ground up foam or coffee grounds are distributed through out the filter, they can be sprayed with a can of spray adhesive. I first cut the furnace filters into ragged scraps, that can easily be shoved onto multi-branched twigs. Background trees can consist of just plain old sprayed chunks of green painted furnace filters. These chunks can be glued to the background hill, with no trunks or branches, and are still very deceptively realistic. When you are making over 400 trees, commercial fiber material is much too expensive.
I watch the forums, but somehow I missed this one.Furnace filters made into trees?Sounds interesting.I’ve probably spend $50-$75 on premade ones lately.Bummer
Art,
Also try Menards - They have the cheap cardboard frame furnace filters. This should just be what you are looking for!

We have a hardware store called McClendon’s out here that carries it… Perhaps call a heating specialist and ask where to get. Maybe one you have used to fix your furnace who will be extra friendly? I bet McClendon’s would ship… message me if you need the number.

Finaly found some at the second Walmart. None of the other stores even knew what I was asking for. I also wondered if some of the above posts were refering to the blue micro fiber filters? Can you make trees from that stuff also??? See you all in a pine forest somewhere.
I think I was talking about the same stuff you want… fibrous “twigs” that seem stuck together in a dark blue mat about 1/2 thick or so…
