Where to mount a stationary decoder?

I have an NCE switch-8 to control my Tortoises. That is 18 wires if I do not use the auxilliary contacts. Would it be better to locate the decoder centrally between the turnouts or run all the wires to a place that would be more accessable. The central localation would have to be under the table. The more accessable location would take up aisle space in some kind of panel. I use wireless so I am never in any one spot while operating.

I would opt for more accessable and run wires to the turnout locations. But that’s just my [2c]

I have all of my electricals mounted at the aisle edges, behind access covers in the fascia. This makes for ‘sit on a chair in the aisle’ access for installation and maintenance. Standing on my head under the layout is not my favorite maneuver, so I planned things to make it unnecessary.
