I have seen those “under warranty” notices on some locomotives. Presumably the purpose is to warn shop forces to do nothing to void the warranty.

Question: does the locomotive have to be returned in the original box?
Dave Nelson

Yeah, and do you have to keep the reciept?
Ed

OH Trust me, with GE you do!

And no refunds after the first 3 minutes.

All of those warranties are voided, bevcause the railroads threw out the little cards they were supposed to return (“Where did you buy this product?” “Is this for business or personal use?”)

I received mine as a gift, naturally!

the railroads can do anything they want with the loco’s JUST DON’T RIP OFF THE TAG!!

…in the shop QUICK, before something else fails!!![:D][:D][:D]

I have heard GE had to supply 20 new locomotives in settlement to one Class I carriers CW60AC warrenty claims. Thats $35/40 Million in settlement.

Whether you are a railroad or a private individual DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT if you expect get the proper warrenty service.

The fine machinists at the UP loco shop in Roseville, forgot to tighten the con rod nuts. They didn’t find out about it until they were load testing and it spit the rod out the side. I failed to mention that it was a brand new AC6000. So much for our training class. Do you think they should cover that under warranty??? [:0][B)][:D]

The bigger question…Why did the machinists have to be working with the con rods on a ‘brand new AC6000’?

(1) Because UP thought if they painted “Under Warranty” on it so the machinists would know, it would void the warranty???

(2) Because UP couldn’t get a service appointment at the dealer’s for 3 weeks???

(3) Because UP found out if they painted “Under Warranty” on it, Under Warranty Inc. was going to charge them royalties???

(4) All of the above??

Caveat emptor!!! Buyer Beware!!! I hope my Latin’s correct!!

you mean they actually got one out of the shop??

Saw a lot of CSX here this weekend - now while I didn’t write it down - I think it was UP 7519 - a C60AC and it had Under Warrenty under the window. I have never seen that on a BNSF - is this an eastern thing?
