hello everyone basically i just did a survey to see where i was with my trains and i have gotten to far I have all the track i need. I have no idea where to start. I know i need new legs for my table so that has to be done. Then i need to get the 1 inch styrofam then get some cork and lay and ballast my track. None of this ahs been done and i havent painted my track. I have basically just been building and painting random models i get for presents. Should I have what models i need planned out already? should i be buying certain ones? And what should i start doing just continue building models? i dont knowwwwwwww
It would be nice to have track plan. It should match the buildings you have to some extent.
You should have an dream: Mountains, city, bridges, forest, desert??? Unless you have a whole basement and ten years, you can’t have it all. You need to focus.
Then do what you enjoy doing. Some get all the track laid and running first. I had my first minni scene, before anything ran, because that is what I like.
There are a lot of steps to this. It is the process, not the finished product that excites most of us.
Read my beginner’s guide in my signature. Takes about 5 minutes.
also, check out the N.M.R.A. (National Model Railroad Association) web site-www.nmra.org
seems you already have started. worse luck for you lol just keep your interest intact and keep on doing what youre doing there are no rules thats the great thing about Model Railroading…you ar “god” and this is your universe
I’m going to ask you what a really good physcologist would ask; “What do you think?” But I think you know what you think because you asked a question that only you can really answer, and then peceded to answer it. Do the things that you know need to be done and then ask some more questions and answer them.
"Let’s start at the very begining…
That’s a very good place to start…
When you think of reading you think A B C…
When you think of music think of do re me…"
Oh, sorry wrong thread…The Sound of Music is elsewhere…
Start with what space you have to devote to your empire…until you define where your empire will live, you can not go further. Then develop a track plan for it.This plan should include for allowances of structures you have or will have on it. It may be a pre-published plan or one of your own design.
I have a 3x5’ HO that I have changed the track plan on 5 times. Don’t be discouraged.
remember above all else….ENJOY the hobby!
As ye shall build, so shall ye rip (apart).
