I’ve been robbed! Someone’s swiped both the formatting bar and all the formatting! Not even any smilies left Is this a forum problem or what? Please don’t ask me what system I’m using 'cos i don’t have a clue…
Well, earlier this week, I, too, lost all the formating features on this forum, and I am using IE 6.0 with WindowsXP. It started just before X-Mas, and continued through Wednesday. I also lost the ability to seperate my paragraphs or type my sig without resorting to writing html code.
However, I seem to have regained both the formating features and my return button as this seems to be working ok for me as of this second. But who knows how long this will last?
Jeffery Wimberly and I were talking about this the other day. He lost his toolbar too. I still have mine on two of my computers, but I lost it on the third the other day. I run windows XP on the two that still have it and windows 2000 Professional on the one that lost it. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it, but it’s curious.
I lost the formatting last week, and today (just this morning) it has returned. Good thing, I had gotten tired of typing in HTML tags for paragrpahs and the like. Now I know why others quit the forum during the software upgrade last summer.
The lost formatting only affected my work computer a controlled XP Pro/IE 6 image. At home, I use Firefox, which was never impacted.
If you were using IE 6.0 on the PC, the forum toolbar may not have been working due to a bug with the compression script used to decrease the load time for the toolbar. An update was made yesterday (12/28) to fix it. If you’re using IE 6.0 and still have problems, try refreshing the page using CTRL+R or the F5 key.
Using the following browser/platform combinations, there are 3 browsers that I’m currently aware of having problems with the forum editor.
Netscape 8.1 won’t post when using “Display Like Firefox”. When switching to “Display Like Internet Explorer” I was able to post messages.
Safari & IE on the Mac don’t have the editor. Without the editor there are no toolbars (no buttons for smilies, images, etc) and paragraphs won’t work w/o
David, It should be noted that Firefox 2.0.0.1 also works fine on the Mac.
Jason, if you download and use Firefox you will have everything working for you. It is better than Safari which hasn’t been updated in quite a while. There are rumours that Safari will be dropped with the next OS upgrade for Mac. When Safari first came out I loved it but it is very out of date now.
Don’t know if it had anything to do with it… the formatting on my E Mail had gone to “plain text” as well… I corrected that by going into View… um, I think… [%-)]. Someone should develop a “Do what I did last time” key.
We have pantomime over here. Only here we chase a Mime as far as we can, or until we start panting. I don’t know what I’d do if I caught one (I never have.) as I pant very easily. At least it keeps them on their toes.
Yes, your usual post are useful. I was just yanking your chain. It’s that season over here too.
