Which kind of model railroader are you ?...

Coming into the hobby late in life I really didn’t even consider DC, but I can certainly understand someone who has a big collection that they’ve built up for decades balking at the cost of conversion to dcc.

I voted DCC
I am still running DC, but I have great aspirations to run my trains, not my rails

DCC all the way, best MRR decision I ever made.

I am still running analog, but I can appreciate the idea of DCC. I don’t have a permanent layout and a plethora of older locomotives that frankly I’m too lazy and cheap to convert them all even if I had a permanent layout. I have a number of locos that require some TLC to get them runnig respectably before I would consider the time and monetary investment into the fleet.

DCC for me. When I first got into the hobby a few years ago thats all that everybody talked about.

After a 25 year delay (kids can be very time consuming) I decided to bring the trains out of storage, only to find most of my treasures were junk.So it was DCC for the start over. I can run one DC engine at a time while still running the others on DCC.

Still into DC here. Running a double track main, and using an MRC dual control powerpack. Still has some advantages, since I use power-routing turnouts and manual switches. Nothing complicated, just plain and simple railroading!

I have DCC but not useing it,cost to much to convert my LOCO’s! So far I only have two chips,I need 28 more,DC is fine for me , I understand it ! Been useing it for a long time.
It is said that there is less wireing in DCC,but you still have to wire your swtches, and run bus line every few feet, some times you have to rewire switches and things like that!

I am just getting into DCC.

Very much DCC. It gives me all the things I used to dream about as a kid: Control over more than one train on the same track, smooth loco control, simplified wiring and control, action sound, and etc…

REX

DCC as in Direct Current Curmudgen!

DC analog, Atlas control selectors, manual switches.

No sound, no smoke, just models, just fun.

Just got into this hobby about 6 months ago having retired at that time. I have been an R/C Airplane flyer for 53 years. Also HAM Radio for 40 years and 42 years as a computer software developer.
With this background DCC was an easy choice.

DCC…Never looking back. As some one who loves to RUN trains, DCC is an easy choice. A surprising number of us are still DC? Interesting…

Coming back to the hobby after 5 years, I’m learning to like dcc a lot more.

I was surprised how quickly I was able to get my engines converted…well OK I still have about 4 old ones that need to be hardwired I haven’t done yet, but I went DCC in April 2004 with one DCC engine (BLI), since then I’ve converted over 20 engines!! I started out doing the “plug and play” ones, then did some “drop-in” ones (like Atlas), saved the hardwires for last. Cost wasn’t too bad, most online dealers give you a discount if you buy say five decoders at the same time.

Course now I’m going back and adding SOUND decoders to some of the engines!!

I’m into DCC because of my three basic preferences: Finer control, operations, and all the associated sounds…the sound influences me to want to operate realistically!

DC from day one, DC now and always

I have DCC, Then my throttle tried to die, so i have to send it back to Digitrax, so for now i’m stuck with DC. ick(no offense)

After 35+ years as an electronic technician, anything that minimizes wires, also minimizes therapy sessions!! [banghead]

Wires are alive, and they are coming to get me!! [:O] No paranoia here!! [:-,]

D.C.C. for me. I have a Digitrax Chief.[tup][tup]

I replaced my vinyl records with cassettes, then CD’s, now MP3’s. What a bummer! But I’m still the kind of guy who prefers to drive a stick shift instead of an automatic, so I don’t mind throwing all those switches and levers on my layout. I’ll stay with DC (for now)
