I’ll make no bones about it my choice is a CN U-2 with Elesco Feedwater heater.
I can’t vote. The only Northern I’d really like are the six built for the TP&W, which were the smallest Northerns made for US use.
As Fergie has some great options above, I would prefer Canadian Pacifics K1a myself.
I would think that the railfans on my layout would prefer seeing a CP unit over a CN unit.

Well Hello Gordon
You took the bait, I had originally had the K1a on there, knowing it would get your vote, however when I looked at the numbers each road had I dropped it.
Please accept my apologies. I some how doubt anyone will make either the K1a or U2
I’d choose a UP FEF-2. It would fit more into the era that I model (WWII) than the FEF-3.
No apologies necessary!!! I know they only had 2, both of which still exist by the way!
If I wanted brass, that wouldn’t be a problem Fergie!
I’ve seen one at a show in Toronto last year.

No question about it, I would choose the big Great Northern S-2 with 80" drivers. That is one high stepping horse!
My choices would be ATSF 3751 (BLI) UP FEF-3 844 (Rivarosi) and SP GS-4 4449 and the SPS 700-ones that are in use currently

C&O Of course.
The Q’s 05A! The road’s best steamers and the best looking outside of the S-4 Hudsons!
A READING T-1.
I hope somebody from Broadway Limited Imports sees this!
The same like me, but this models comming soon, are available or will come in a few month.
But as a 4-8-4 - fan I must vote for NYC´s Niagara - The old Bachmann model was good but not good enough!
The New York Central Niagara.
The prototype was a stunning beauty! Trajedy none were saved. Could pull the 20th Century LImited at “breakneck” speeds.
While my layout’s theme will be the 1960s (past the steam era) I wouldn’t mind owning a decent Niagara model. Would be used for fictional “excursion service”.
The FEF-3, GS-4 and 2900 class are my three favorite Northerns! [:)]
I’d personally like to see Reading T-1’s and a REALLY high quality N&W J. Maybe BLI might see this.
Roger
I’d like a Grand Trunk Western U-4-b class. A good old Midwestern Northern! That’s what I’m talking about! I’d also like to see a UP FEF-2, FEF-1, and an SP GS-5.
Only one answer for me here. Please someone make a good accurate SP Daylight GS-4 locomotive. I would love for Broadway Limited to make one. With the # 4449 being the most photographed steam locomotive in history, why has no one made a good GS-4 model? Please Broadway Limited!
Well, sorry to say that I don’t NEED another Northern, I’ve already got plenty of brass ones (Rio Grande 1700/1800, 2 SP GS’s, one Daylight, the other War Baby, one GN S-1 (Gad, what a handsome devil!) and a BLI ATSF. HOWEVER, (he said, greedily), if I were to get another Northern, I think I’d go for either the CB&Q 05-A or the NP A5. And while I’m thinking of it, that Canadian National 4-8-4 is sure a handsome beastie----
