I currently have the Yaesu VX170, and I use it in the field, and while at home, for listening to the Railroad. At my house, I have an antenna on the roof to use. I wanted to buy a radio just for the house, that would stay hooked up to the antenna on the roof. Should I buy another VX170 for the house, or get an FT-1802M for the house? Does one work better than the other for just at home use??? Also, does the FT-1802m have the same SMA connector as the VX170?
