Which Tsunami Sound decoder for and EMD SD40-2 HO scale?

I am planning on getting an athearn RTR sd40-2 quick plug equippped locomotive. I was wondering which Tsunami sound decoder i should get for this engine. I kept looking for the EMD 645 1st gen, but i couldn’t find it (i don’t know if that is even the correct decoder for it to be prototypicaly accurate) If anyone could help me that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

You’re correct.

If you order the Tsunami from an on-line dealer such as Ulrich Hobby Shop, Tony’s Trains, or Litchfield Station, you select the sound set you want as part of the checkout procedure.

From your message, it sounds like you have already check SoundTraxx.

I would check Digitrax, LokSound and maybe, TCS. Tcs is new to sound but no idea on what they have yet.

If you’re comfortable with soldering/wiring I would get the AT format as it’s usually cheaper. Also easy to change the capacitor to a larger one. The speaker and enclosure install are key. For this install I would use a medium oval speaker and use the shell where possible as portions of the enclosure. You will have to file down the speaker sides and inside of the shell somewhat.
