I can make way more stain for the money from dye and alcohol. I have bought stains before and find making my own from leftover cabinet jobs provides me more than I could ever use in this lifetime Ken
I haven’t scratch built any trestles yet so this is pure speculation. (I did build a coal dump trestle but there wasn’t any wire bracing in it).
Is it possible to drill the holes before the bridge is assembled? In other words, once you have the top and bottom beams measured and marked, clamp them together and drill the top and bottom holes at the same time. Keeping the drill straight would be crucial of course, and this would only be useful for vertical bracing.

Wasn’t a problem getting holes where I wanted them , was issue keeping things aligned. I was getting better towards the end. Your suggestion may be how instructions called for but I don’t know as I only have the bridge plans. This is my first truss bridge and has been a learning experience, mostly enjoyable.

Hii everyone, didn’t get any RR time this week end due to getting firewood. But I was able to sneak in a hour to make me a chop it device for cutting my basswood. I also have a longer lever and heavier duty cutting blade for larger pieces. Here’s a couple photos.
