Well. After agreeing to do this thing and giving the children a choice of what they wanted to do I began to panic a bit.
They had just returned from the cinema after watching the Wallace and Grommet Wererabbit film.Guess what they wanted.Having still not seen the film this is mainly my own (with the children’s directions.)
The van is built with my old favourite, balsa wood. The motor is an Aristocraft.
The figures are plasticine.Apologies for the van being the wrong colour and having no signs. All in all it’s about a day’s work.I will finish it.
Over to the kids.
This was the first time the van has seen track.
Lights on.Starters orders.
And she’s away (guess who didn’t have time to detail the back ! )
So far so good.
Now introduce the plasticine and pray.
Off we go Grommet—
Come on old chum.Full speed ahead!..
Come on Grommet.Watch that lean.keep it trim…
Oh dear Grommet.I’ve think I’ve eaten too much cheese. The balance has gone.Brace up ,steer small…
Now you’ve done it Grommet.I don’t know how I’m going to explain this to the A35 owners club.Get your foot off me cheese…
Actually the fire extingushers came with the firemen molded in red plastic so I just painted them to look better. The 8 firemen came with 4 fire extinguishers, a jaws of life looking thing, 3 different flashlights a shovel, an axe and a motorcycle that gave it’s life for the project. The motorcycle had a flashing red LED as a headlight and an simple push button switch that starts the siren going and the led flashing (lasts about 10 seconds a push) These all are mounted into the speeder. The firemen and their accessories where found at the local Wally World for 4.98 USD or 2.86 GBP. Believe it or not the firemen (there is a set with policemen also) actually scale out to just a touch over 6 foot 6 inches tall in 1:20.3 so they are a tall bunch but very good at reaching stuff on the top shelf [:D] Hope that answers some questions.
Wonderful! Very Wallace-like to fall apart! Love it!
I sure wish I could have that many Daleks, I only have two, and those were very hard to find and expensive. I thought long and hard before modifying one for the build-off, but I think it was worth it. Next time I’m in the UK I’ll be sure to bring an additonal suitcase for all the goodies I’ll be taking home.
