Ok, let’s roll those votes in! Winner get’s the right to brag about having the “most active imagination on the forum”, loser gets to brag about “having entered something and you didn’t so shut-up”.
Where can I see what I am voting on?
Cool stuff…GREAT STUFF!!!
I would like to retract my vote!!!
I would like to replace it with All of the Above.
Everyone is a winner here. The contestants for doing something that the rest of us didn’t. The readership for the weeks of enjoyable reading and the last couple of days enjoying the wonderful pix.
Ratsun - TJ - Troy: Thanks for the best of laughs.
I liked the rocket most… The smoke in my eyes might have something to do with it…
The other two entries were plenty neat, though. I wish I had time to build the item I thought of, which was a water-powered (track powered pump) car. The line’s always trying to save money on fuel, you know!
Vic, I don’t know if this would have helped, but some Walkmans have a small motor about a 1/2"-3/4" in height and about 1" in diameter. That may have been able to power your attempt.
A tough decision!
Fire Truck = easily discernable municipal use vehicle, no question!
Troy’s entry = well done, appealing, busy looking, had losts of family input; but didn’t make it round the track!
TJ got my vote = showed whimsey, melded lots of stuff well, and worked!
I also vote that Kalmbach award all 3 with a year’s extention to GR subscription for the efforts; or find some commensurate award! It was worth it even from the bystander’s point of view and the interest it generated!
Troy’s got my vote hands down!
I cant help it, I’m a huge Wallace & Grommit fan
Thanks for the info, I have an old NWSL Flea motor I was going to try to modify for it but I have to modify the drive axles, I never realized how BIG even the smallest LS motor drives are. Will let you know if theres any progress.
They were all really cool, shame I had to vote for just one!

Congrats Troy! Even though your vehicle failed to complete the course and had NO munincipal function whatsoever, election officials were properly bribed, kick-backs were paid to the “fellas”, and multiple votes per voter were counted (again and again and again if you are from Florida or the Phillipines) and Troy Betts has been duly certified as holding up the “British End” and is decreed to be:
THE GRAND WINNER OF THE 2005 FORUM WHIMSY BUILD OFF!

Yes it did.Since it ran in the garden there have been no reports of Wererabbits anywhere in the village.Since the first run it has now made it all the way round the garden without misshap.
Cheers folks.
We should do it again next year.
Hi Troy
Don’t see why not it generated quite a bit of fun
I better start thinking now and i might just get something built in time…
