Loksound’s file for their Rivarossi version of this engine is a chime set that sounds to me like it would be right at home on a light Mike or something. I have read that it was more like a hoot or a wail. Anyone out there who knows how to characterize/describe the H-8’s whistle sound?

There was another posting about this very thing, and as I remember it, Gene Huddleston (famous C&O photographer/Historian) said that the whistle on the H-8 sounded pretty much like an N&W Hooter.
Honestly, when I heard an audio file of an N&W hooter I didn’t like it.

Thank-you! I notice in a youtube video of an MTH O gauge H-8 that their version isn’t far off the N&W hooter. So, this leaves me wondering…[%-)]…where did Loksound get their sound file?

Dunno, but I know the Tsunami heavy steam comes with one on it (at least I was told that the sound file is an N&W Hooter), and once again I think it’s annoying but that is me.
