I have a post war whistle tender with a piculiar problem. The wire that goes from the dc relay to the motor stator coil is broken off at the coil. There is not enough of a tail to solder it back.
Any ideas?

Start taking the insulating paper off till you find the end, then tape it back up again with electrical tape, done this a few times with electro magnets and solonoids.
Either do what Jerry said or solder a new wire.

If some of the wire is sticking out, you can carefully scrape off the insulation, and splice a piece of wire onto the end. I’ve done this many times.
If it’s the outer end of the windings, you can just unwrap one winding. If it’s the inner end of the windings, and you cannot splice on a piece of wire, you are out of luck.
