White boxcars found!

Is Fallon a town of any size? I mean, does it have sufficient teenagers to populate a high school? Is it a fortunate circumstance of schooling, or ethics, or religion, that the kids have somehow gleaned the idea that striping someone else’s property is not nice? Will I ever stop posing rhetorical questions? [:P]

Well, and the fact that the cars are owned by the military wing of the Federal gov’t might give anyone pause. Pristine boxcars of any format or color seem to be to be quite the rare thing these days, at least judging by some personal observation of BNSF and UP at Rochelle and a little ex-SCL CSX at the Folkston Funnel, Georgia.

Weren’t there white tank cars in the X-Files movie???

Maybe they are performing alien autopsies or cross-hybridazation experiments with humans and aliens?

Penncentral…we were referring to psychops…whats interesting is that this intelligence tactic has muddied the waters so thoroughly, in situations like this one below, which are happening now almost daily…folks can’t tell the forest for the trees…and now check this out…Wikileaks. An article below…

What revelations and evils await us with the forthcoming debut of “wikileaks?”

Here is the hype from the placemarker website:

Wikileaks is developing an uncensorable Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis. Our primary interests are oppressive regimes in Asia, the former Soviet bloc, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, but we also expect to be of assistance to those in the west who wish to reveal unethical behavior in their own governments and corporations. We aim for maximum political impact; this means our interface is identical to Wikipedia and usable by non-technical people. We have received over 1.2 million documents so far from dissident communities and anonymous sources.

What remains to be seen is if wikileaks will become a forum for all manner of disinfo, designed not to inform, but lead astray the public and enemies of the anonymous person or organization doing the leaking. Anyone with access to sensitive information will still be able to cloak their activities with behind a wall of real information and checkable facts, in spite of pronouncements to the contrary:

Peddlers of misinformation will find themselves undone by Wikileaks, equipped as it is to scrutinize leaked documents in a way that no mainstream media outlet is capable of.

The site is due to make its debut in the next two months. Perhaps some documents related to the release of a new book on the Bennewitz/ UFO disinfo shenanigans of the late 1970s and early '80s will appear on wikileaks as “companion” documents. We should of course await developments wi

What is a friction truck? Fristion wedge/wearplate ?? or something else.

If someone ever has the time up there in Oregon ,near Lebenon just before

youget into town from the west there is a siding turning south. There was 2 of

these cars sitting with that color. It seems someone might be living in them

though. Dave br

Trucks with friction bearings were banned from interchange 1/1/94 and friction converted to roller bearing were banned 1/1/95, this is because detectors can not see them when they overheat. They also require more care than their roller bearing brethren.

Not knowing the details of this thread, are white (those are actually silver) boxcars really rare? A bit confused there.

The army had many 40-60’ boxcars painted sliver or yellow. There are about 5 ex-Army,SBVR silver army boxcars at Cass, WV, and about another 3 yellow cars. (The silver boxcars are now rusted out pretty good, and little of the silver remains)

My question is…Why did you take the pictures on the dark side? Danny

What dark side? I couldn’t get to the other side. There’s a board fence on one side with apartments beyond that. There’s a chain link fence on the other side about 10 feet from the cars with a commercial building about a foot further away from that. All I had to work with was a small, digital camera…

Phil (and anyone else who is lost on this one) -

I tried to find the original thread but came up empty.

Some time ago, amidst a thread dealing with conspiracy theories of one sort or another (or was it an equipment description someone saw someplace?), mention was made of white boxcars with shackles being used to transport people to parts unknown. As you can see (try a search on the forum for “boxcars with shackles”), they have now become legendary here on the forum.

As for how common or rare they are (the white/silver boxcars) - can’t help you there.

Many times, you are better off doing a Google search than using the search feature of this forum. When I did, I came up with http://www.trains.com/TRC/CS/forums/964975/ShowPost.aspx. It appears as though the thread has been deleted.

I’ve noticed that there were several older threads that were deleted. I thought that such threads had just been locked in the past, but I suppose that it kinda makes sense to delete them.

Hello all I’m new to the forum. Not sure why anyone would get worked up over some white box cars. I belive I have seen the box cars and caboose pictured at the top of this thread. I think they are on a track to be used as a back ground or fence for the Station Cafe and Casino. The cars and caboose will not be going anywhere soon.

It’s an inside joke (see my post just above).

Yeah, and watch out for black helicopters too…[alien]

I did find this post White boxcars and Katrina

It’s the same thing.Whitelined=retired.

Please report to the curb with one small suitcase. The black van will be along shortly to pick you up. Please do not force us to take your family and friends too.

Friction bearings…Normaly can not be moved in reagular service. A few MOW friction bearing cars are still out there and move around yards but are not interchanged.

Legend has it that Timken bearing company coined the term “friction bearing” . To the rest of us they are just “plain bearing”.
