white glue or carpenter glue????

What glue should i use to glue down roadbed and track?

Roadbed White glue will suffice.

I don’t reccomend glueing down track. But instead secure it down with track nails. If you think you must glue it down. Then you want Liquid nails for projects for glueing down track.

I used white glue for the cork roadbed, nails for the track and then mixed water and white glue 50-50 to hold down the ballast.

Thanks James! But the track must be glued down because I’m using laminatefor the base and you can’t drive nails in to it…

Shaun

You might want to rethink that idea.

What would you suggest?

I would lay your track on some type of roadbed.

It is going to be laid on cork. I am planning on having this train run around close to the ceiling of my living room and down the hallway and back. Thats the reason for the laminate ‘shelf’…

my pal lary had his train on laminate and I just used a tack to predrill or punch a hole for the nails it worked good
if not use white glue mixed with water and you will be glad when you want to take it down or move it the white glue will come out easy with water or alcahol
just my 2 cents

Go along with TA462’s method. That’s the best way to do ballast and grass.

If you want to “plant” grass, use elmer’s glue (mixed with water) and spread it out. Lay the grass and spread it out to where it’s not bunched up. Before the glue dries, use a spray bottle with soapy water and spritz the grass to break down the glue. The soapy water will also help with the ballast too.
